Marketing Internship

Marketing Internship Description
Ask April Porter – a funny name for a business.
Our founder, April Porter, earned a reputation for excellence when she was a multi-unit franchisee. She also learned there was a dark side to franchising and that franchisees are often overlooked. Always one to stand up for others, April began mentoring franchisees to help them overcome the roadblocks keeping them from their vision of success. Word spread, and soon, more and more franchisees were asking April questions – hence Ask April Porter was born.
And now, we serve hundreds of franchisees all over the world guiding them out of overwhelm and uncertainty into a lifestyle of Sanity, Wealth, And GratitudeTM.
The challenge is... getting the word out to more franchisees that we have the answers they are looking for. Our online brand is built on social media, and we are expanding into more channels as we grow. So... we are looking for an intern that is eager to learn from our Director of Marketing and excited to grow an online business with their skills, wit and style.
As our Marketing Intern, you will flex your creativity while amplifying April’s reputation as The Franchisee Expert. Kinda obvious… a creative eye is necessary to successfully assist in editing photos, creating design elements, editing websites, building landing pages and developing higher engagement in our Facebook Groups.
Even though you are likely majoring in Communications, fine arts, Marketing or Advertising/Public Relations, we don’t expect you to know everything. We value open communication and do expect you to ask questions and meet deadlines. Throughout the process, we will be excited to hear your ideas and want to lean into your unique perspectives. Of course, experience with Canva, Hubspot, website builders, and Adobe Creative Suite such as Photoshop and Indesign is a plus.
A coachable intern will grow as a marketer through our dedicated mentorship, while supplementing your education with 10-15 hours a week of real-world experience.
Because we are a fully remote workforce, our team often shows up to our morning meeting on Zoom with coffee in hand. Our interns, like our employees, are trusted to manage their schedules, because they are self-starters capable of balancing internship responsibilities, school, and personal matters with flexibility. You can design your 10-15 hours per week so that you don’t miss out on the things most important to you, like sleeping in, studying, catching a game, or making the most of an evening.
Ultimately, we are dedicated to helping both our clients and our team members reach the vision that they have for their future through professional development, education, and support. So, every internship we create within our company has the potential to grow as the person filling the role grows.

Sales Representative

Sales Representative Description
When someone says, “I could never be a salesperson” you want to roll your eyes. You understand that working in sales doesn’t have to be smarmy. In fact, it’s fun and rewarding. You love learning about the challenges a prospect is facing, knowing you have the best solution to their problem. And, when you truly listen to people and show that you care about what they are going through, it would be cruel not to share how to help them. That’s how you find fulfillment in a profession others find intimidating – and you are very good at it.
You’ve probably been described as a people person, a connector, maybe even the life of the party. You have a natural talent for making people feel seen, heard, and understood, which is why people embrace you as a friend, eager to build a meaningful, professional relationship within a few minutes of meeting you.
And, you love chasing the answer of “No thanks.” Every time someone says no, it saves you the time and headache of following up with them and gets you closer to those you can help. That’s what makes you so good at organic lead generation – approaching people to start the conversation either in-person, through a cold email or DM, or by phone.
Ultimately, you want to make a big impact on others, which drives you to help as many people as possible. When given clear sales goals – you hit them. Your competitive spirit strives to be the best, so you enjoy finding what is working and what isn’t and course-correcting to close more sales.
All that being said – you’re not into the “brah” culture. You have no time or energy for cutthroat tactics, instead, you want to work with a no-drama team that will mentor you in new skills and meet your eagerness to learn with the knowledge, challenges, and opportunities to excel in your personal and professional growth. You show up consistently with integrity, practice emotional intelligence, and will not shy away from a difficult conversation if it is necessary to resolve an issue or pave the way to greatness.
Ask April Porter team members are extremely talented in their specialties and dedicated to the attitude and beliefs explained above, and we are looking for someone with your superpowers of connection, empathy, and winning to add to our team.
About Our Company
April Porter is an attorney that invested in a franchise business, then grew it to four locations in record time. She continued to rack up awards and leadership positions, as franchisees from across the country sought her out to ask what she was doing differently to build multiple stable businesses so quickly. So, upon selling her franchise empire, she started a new company – Ask April Porter. Now, she leads our team in teaching franchisees the business knowledge and strategies that produce a life of Sanity, Wealth, and GratitudeTM, aka SWAGTM.
In our two first years of business, Ask April Porter has made a major impact on the franchising industry, becoming the #1 franchisee podcast on Apple, reaching the top 10% of shared podcasts on Spotify, hosting the only franchisee community on Facebook, and April was recognized as one of the Top Ten Woman in Franchising and a Top 175 Global Influencer in Franchising in 2022. In 2023, we are hosting the only business education and development conference for franchisees in the industry - the SWAG Conference.
Our Sales Representative will help us continue this path of excellence by growing our network of connections in the franchising industry through organic outreach on social media, attending online and in-person networking groups, attending industry conferences with the purpose of funneling prospects to our live events, booking consults, and closing sales. You will assist April directly in the facilitation of our Strategic Partner Syndicate program and communicate with clients to ensure their satisfaction with our services and support them in their success.
We are in the business of mentoring and supporting people through personal and professional growth and are looking for someone that wants to start in this position with the goal of developing and growing into greater roles. Training will be provided, however, bringing some or all of the following skills to the job may accelerate your growth in the company:
- Experience in the franchising industry
- Sales Skills
- Proficiency with a CRM (bonus if Hubspot)
- Time Blocking and Management
- Social Media Proficiency
- Strategic Thinking
- Copywriting
This position will be remote. For those in the St. Louis area, we may meet in-person from time to time.
You will earn a salary and be eligible for commissions and bonuses.
To apply, email your resume and a sample of how you would cold message someone through social media DM to begin building a relationship with them.
